Frequently Asked Questions

Fluid-Bag for grease and oils

  • How many Fluid-Bags can I fit into a 20 / 40 ft container?

    Filled Fluid-Bags: 20 pc (900 l, stacked in 2 layers) Fluid-Bags in a 20 ft container and 20 pc (1000 l, 1 layer) in a 40 ft container.

    Empty Fluid-Bags
are shipped efficiently packed, and depending on the model we can fit from 75 to 100 complete Fluid-Bag units in a 20 ft container and from 180 to 200 in a 40 ft container.

  • Should I fill from top or bottom?

The best way is always to fill from the bottom. By doing this you can fill without air contact, thus eliminating the risk of contamination. If the product is high viscous grease (NLGI 2 or 3) you can avoid trapping air in the product. When filling from bottom via the outlet pipe you need an adapter to connect the hose/pipe to the bag. For more liquid products, the bag can also be filled from the top if a Filling Station is used.

  • How do I connect the pump to the bag?

There are a number of adapters available. The choice depends on what pump will be used. For high viscous products, it is important that the connection is completely airtight. Please contact Fluid-Bag for more information.

  • What kind of pump can I use?

If the product is high viscous, the pump must create a suction (vacuum) to pull the product out. A Discharge Roller is used, but it is still the pump that has to do the discharging work. If the product is more liquid, any kind of pump can be used, as the product is flowing out of the bag due to the stretching. Click here to read more about typical set-ups.

  • What is needed to operate the Discharge Roller?

The Discharge Roller is operated with compressed air. The capacity requirement for compressed air is a minimum 6.5 bars / 95 PSI and 150 l / min.

  • Where can I get spare parts and service for my Discharge Roller?

You can buy spare parts directly from Fluid-Bag in Finland, or from our distributor in the US. Please refer to the spare parts list included with your Discharge Roller and contact your Fluid-Bag representative. We also offer training and maintenance packages for owners of Discharge Rollers. Read more here about the service packages and contact your closest Fluid-Bag representative.

  • Can I buy the whole solution (equipment, pumps, adaptors etc) from Fluid-Bag?

Yes, you can buy the whole package from us. On request we supply everything you need to get the product out of the Fluid-Bag and out to the application point. This includes suitable equipment for discharge, pump, adaptors and hose.

  • Do I need a Discharge Roller to empty the Fluid-Bag?

As a general rule, you need a Discharge Roller if you are working with grease. If the product is NLGI class 000 or 00 you usually do not need one. However, this should always be discussed in each case, since it also depends on the temperature of the grease/lubricant in the discharge location, and for what purpose the grease will be used.

  • What do I do with the Fluid-Bag after use?

The pallet can be used for wood recycling or incinerated for energy. The transport bag is clean polypropylene and can be sent for material recirculation or incineration. The only waste is the inner bag which weighs about 4-5 kg plus the product residue inside. This component is usually sent for energy production.

  • Can the Fluid-Bags be stacked?

The Flexi container (single trip unit) can be double stacked in a warehouse or in a 20ft container (900 l version). The Multi container can be triple stacked in a warehouse.

  • Will the Fluid-Bag be strong enough for my needs?

The Fluid-Bag is the strongest flexible container on the market. It can take a direct hit by a fork lift truck without puncturing. It is tested and approved for transport by road, rail and sea. Every single inner bag is pressurised and tested for leakage. The Fluid-Bag can even perform better than a rigid container in many cases thanks to the flexibility.
