The Fluid-Bag system cuts grease waste

Exmark, a manufacturer of professional turf care equipment in Beatrice, Nebraska, USA, recently installed a new lubricants system that will save tons of grease a year while providing major environmental benefits. With the help of its local cooperative and CHS Inc., Exmark replaced twenty 400-pound drum stands with our Fluid-Bag Flexi system.

“Traditional 400-pound-drum pumping systems result in a 10-15 percent loss of grease versus minimal loss for the Fluid-Bag Flexi and Discharge Roller system. Exmark will save about 4,000 pounds of grease a year, which will more than pay for the cost of the system,” says Chris Foree, certified energy specialist with Farmers Cooperative, Dorchester, Nebraska. “And the environmental benefits are significant. There’s minimal loss of grease and the empty bags can be burned, so we eliminate grease going into landfills and drums going to scrap yards.”

Foree says the Fluid-Bag system also offers advantages over tubular tanks for handling grease because there’s no need to ship tanks back to the grease manufacturer and there’s no contamination due to grease buildup. “Installation of the system at the Exmark plant was problem-free and it’s working flawlessly,” says Foree. “The plant employees are very happy that they don’t have to hassle with handling grease drums anymore.

“Exmark uses different Cenex® lubricants in manufacturing its commercial equipment. A lot of OEMs and other companies need large volumes of grease so there should be a lot of applications for this technology,” says Foree. ”Fluid-Bag is definitely a cleaner, safer system with great ROI.”
